Terms of Use.
These Terms of Use (the "Terms", also referred to as the "EULA") form a legal agreement between you and NorseHorse ("we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the PGPony application ("the App") on iOS and Android. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Short version: PGPony is a free OpenPGP encryption tool. You can use it for any lawful purpose. We make no warranties — encryption software can fail, keys can be lost, and you are responsible for safeguarding your own private keys and passphrases. We are not liable for damages resulting from your use of the App.
1. License Grant
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on devices you own or control, strictly in accordance with these Terms and any applicable App Store or Google Play terms.
2. Description of Service
PGPony is a privacy-focused OpenPGP encryption utility that allows you to generate PGP key pairs, encrypt and decrypt messages, sign and verify messages, manage a local keyring, and exchange public keys. All cryptographic operations are performed locally on your device. PGPony is currently provided free of charge, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
3. Restrictions
You agree not to:
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except as permitted by applicable law.
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
- Attempt to bypass or circumvent any security features of the App.
4. Intellectual Property
The App, including its code, design, graphics, and documentation, is the intellectual property of NorseHorse and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the App.
5. Privacy
Your privacy is fundamental to PGPony. The App does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All keys, messages, and cryptographic operations remain on your device. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
6. Third-Party Services
The App may interact with the following third-party services only when you explicitly initiate the action:
- keys.openpgp.org — when you publish or search for public keys. Governed by their own privacy policy at keys.openpgp.org/about/privacy.
- Web Key Directory (WKD) — when you look up a recipient's key by email, PGPony queries the recipient's own mail domain. Governed by that domain operator's terms.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — used to deliver and update the App on your device. Governed by Apple's and Google's respective terms.
We are not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of any third-party service.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, NorseHorse shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the App.
9. Cryptography Disclaimer
PGPony implements OpenPGP-standard encryption (RFC 4880 and RFC 9580). While we strive for correctness and security, no software can guarantee absolute protection. You are solely responsible for safeguarding your private keys and passphrases. We are not liable for any data loss, unauthorized access, or security breaches resulting from your use of the App, including but not limited to forgotten passphrases, lost devices, or compromised key backups.
10. Export Compliance
The App contains cryptographic functionality and may be subject to export control laws of the United States and other jurisdictions. You agree to comply with all applicable export and re-export restrictions and regulations, and you represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any country to which the App is restricted by United States export law.
11. Termination
These Terms are effective until terminated. Your rights under these Terms will terminate automatically without notice if you fail to comply with any of their provisions. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and delete all copies from your devices.
12. Updates and Modifications
We may update the App or these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page when material changes are made.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Alabama, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Jefferson County, Alabama, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and NorseHorse regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

PGPony is an independent application developed by NorseHorse, a solo indie developer based in Alabama, United States.
